Trello

A CardBoard card linked to a Trello card shares its title, description, and status with it, edited from either side. Status is the Trello list, so name your lists To Do, In Progress, and Done and there’s nothing else to set up.

Lists become statuses. CardBoard reads status from list names:

A list named likeCounts as
”To Do”, “To-do”Not started
”In Progress”Started
”Done”Completed

Name your lists this way and status syncs both ways: setting a status in CardBoard moves the Trello card to the matching list, and moving the card in Trello updates the status. If the board has no list matching a status, the change is skipped and the card tells you why.

Trello is the one tracker where moving a card means something: dragging a Trello card to another list changes its status, so that move syncs. Moving the CardBoard card around the map still doesn’t. Why position never syncs.

  • Each CardBoard board connects to exactly one Trello board.
  • Each card links to exactly one Trello card on that board.

Trello has no workspace-level connection in CardBoard. Each connected board carries its own webhook.

  1. Add your Trello credentials: open your personal Integrations settings, choose Trello, and paste your Trello API key and token. The form links to Trello’s page for creating them. You do this once, not per board.
  2. Open the board, then open the tracker drawer and choose Trello.
  3. Pick the Trello board to sync with. CardBoard registers a webhook on it so changes reach the map.
  4. Link your first card. Drag a Trello card from the drawer onto the map, or send cards you’ve planned to Trello to create cards from them.

Connecting a board requires a paid plan and permission to manage the board.

To edit a linked card you need to be a workspace member with your own Trello key and token added. Until you add them, the synced fields on linked cards are locked for you. Guests can view, comment on, and react to linked cards.

  • A board: a board manager disconnects it from the tracker drawer. CardBoard removes its webhook, and cards keep their current content but lose their Trello links. Your Trello cards stay exactly as they are.
  • Your credentials: remove Trello from your personal Integrations settings. You’ll need to add them again before you can edit linked cards.

If a Trello card is deleted, its CardBoard card stays on the map and shows the Trello card as deleted. CardBoard never deletes Trello cards.

What to link, reorganizations, and migrating off work the same way for every tracker. See Working with your tracker.
