July 2026

Boards now start from a sentence about your work, cards carry a real status, and AI assistants can move, delete, and flesh out cards — not just create them.

New

  • Start a board by describing your work. Sign-up is now a single name step that lands you on a board, and new boards open with a one-line intent prompt: say what you’re working on and CardBoard names the board and seeds its backbone for you. The old 17-card story-map scaffold is gone — you get a starting point that’s about your product, not a worked example.
  • Card status. Cards now carry a status you can see and set from the canvas: a badge on the card, clickable to move between five states, consistent whether the card is local or synced from Azure DevOps, Jira, Trello, or Shortcut.
  • Opportunity solution trees. A new map type for outcome-driven discovery, seeded with your desired outcome at the root, with roles for opportunities, solutions, and experiments as you build the tree out.
  • Collapse an outcome to a single row. Collapsed outcomes render as a tidy one-card-high tray with a count badge; the cards move with the divider, and the collapsed state is shared with everyone on the board.
  • More that AI assistants can do. Connected assistants can now propose card moves, propose deletions, propose a status change, and propose a fully-formed card with its description and acceptance criteria in one gesture — all still accept-gated as ghost cards you review. Proposals can also target a specific slice of the board.
  • Agents in the app. A reworked Settings › Agents page with a guided connect wizard, plus board-level surfaces: agents appear in the presence stack, a collaborator drawer that lives alongside the extension drawers, and a nudge to connect if you haven’t yet.
  • Type-to-confirm account deletion. Deleting an account now asks you to type a confirmation phrase first.

Improved

  • Edit card prose as Markdown. Description and acceptance criteria are now click-to-edit Markdown, directly in the card — no rich-text editor in the way, and images and task-list checkboxes survive the round-trip.
  • Card design. A refreshed card face: the indicator row sits low with the title fading beneath it, hover reveals expand chrome, and the status badge is sized to the card.
  • Change properties on many cards at once. Context-menu property changes now apply to every selected card.
  • Creating a board. “Templates” are now called map types, and you can double-click one to go straight in.
  • Board chrome. The board header consolidates to presence and Share, help moves in with the zoom controls, and dismissing a nudge is final.
  • Canvas feel. A consistent grabbing cursor for the whole drag, shadows that scale with zoom, divider labels that select and type like card titles, and drag structure that resolves on drop.
  • Sync you can trust. Sync failures now surface as failures instead of pretend-success, transient errors are told apart from “needs reauth” for Jira, Trello, and Shortcut, and Azure DevOps users can pick up a personal identity from the browser extension so their edits are attributed to them.
  • Plans and seats. Board limits now apply only on the Free plan, one member seat means one member, Team purchases can add seats at the moment you need them, and a Free workspace over the board limit becomes read-only rather than losing access to its work.
  • Sign-in and security. Rate limits on authentication, exact-match SSO domain handling, and OAuth sign-up no longer blocked by an unrelated SSO domain.

Fixed

  • Board changes from other people — status, assignment, and other association-driven updates — now appear live instead of on refresh.
  • Undo/redo, card restore, and real-time delivery no longer race each other on the canvas.
  • Accepted AI cards stop flashing yellow, and card avatars survive a refresh.
  • Dashboard alerts no longer render behind the top navigation, and the collaborator drawer sits below the navbar.
  • Cross-workspace board access is now scoped to live membership, closing a case where a removed collaborator kept access.
  • Stale styling after a deploy: assets are now cached correctly.
  • Read-only boards no longer offer an editable title.

Behind the scenes: a large status data-model remodel, a workspace-wide audit pass on credentials and encryption, Cloudflare-aware client IP handling, a rebuilt internal support console, Stimulus controller autoregistration and lazy loading, tracker integrations moved into packs, removal of dead JavaScript entrypoints and the orphaned test suite, and the usual dependency bumps.
